the human version

Privacy, without the fog.

MemoGotchi needs location access to remind you in the right place. We keep the data footprint small, do not sell personal information, and explain the details below.

Information MemoGotchi processes

Account information

When you use Sign in with Apple, Apple provides MemoGotchi with a unique account identifier and, depending on your Apple choices, an email address and name. The app stores its session and display name securely in the iOS Keychain.

Location and nearby places

The app uses precise location on your device to create location reminders, monitor arrival or departure, center maps, and find relevant places nearby. For category searches, coordinates and a place category are sent to the MemoGotchi server and then to Google Places. Task titles and place names are not included in product analytics.

Quests and pet progress

Your quests, completion history, wallet, and pet progress are stored locally on your device. A quest title is sent to the MemoGotchi server when you ask it to infer a useful place or use voice capture.

Photos

If you choose photo verification, the task title and selected photo are sent through the MemoGotchi server to OpenAI to judge whether the photo plausibly demonstrates completion. The OpenAI request is configured not to store the response for model use. Photo verification is optional.

Diagnostics and product metrics

MemoGotchi sends coarse events such as app opened, onboarding completed, and quest completed, together with random installation and session identifiers, platform, version, and time. Crash reports may include the exception type and technical stack trace. Analytics are designed not to include task text, transcripts, photos, place names, coordinates, or exception messages.

Why this information is used

Service providers

MemoGotchi relies on Apple for authentication and platform services, Google Places for nearby place results, OpenAI for natural-language processing and optional photo verification, and the operator’s hosting provider for the MemoGotchi server and operational logs. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies.

Retention and control

Local quest and pet data remains on your device until you remove it or uninstall the app. Session tokens expire after 30 days. Server requests and diagnostics may appear in operational logs and are retained according to the server host’s configured retention period. You can disable location, camera, microphone, speech recognition, and notifications in system Settings, although related features will stop working.

You can sign out from MemoGotchi Settings. For account and data removal instructions, visit Delete account and data.

Children and changes

MemoGotchi is not directed to children under 13. We may update this policy as the app changes; the effective date at the top will identify the latest version.
